Getting started takes four steps

  1. Sign up

    Make a free account with your email or Google.

  2. Verify with Stripe

    Confirm who you are and connect your bank account. Your ID and bank details go straight to Stripe, and Matey never sees or stores them.

  3. Finish your profile

    Add a one-line pitch and what you do, so businesses know why to pick you.

  4. Send your first quote

    Open a job that fits, quote your price, and chat with the business in Matey.

How you get paid, and what it costs

  • The money is held first. When a business pays, Matey holds the payment through Stripe. It's released to you once you and the business both confirm the job is done, then paid to your bank on Stripe's payout schedule.
  • One fee, no surprises. Matey keeps 10% of the job amount, taken out of what's released to you. There's no sign-up fee. The business pays the job amount with nothing added on top.
  • You set your price. You quote on each job yourself and choose which ones suit your skills.
  • Reviews that count. Reviews come from businesses after a job is marked done, and they stay on your profile.
  • Founding Matey perk. The first 10 Mateys to get verified become Founding Mateys automatically. You get a Founding Matey badge on your profile, and your fee is 5% instead of 10% for 12 months from the day you're verified.
